The international non-profit organisation Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) which aims to accelerate sustainability in the global fashion industry, has announced that it will launch a programme called “Circular Fashion Partnership: Türkiye” to reduce textile waste and expand circular practices in Türkiye. Set to launch in early 2026, this new initiative aims to strengthen Turkey’s circular textile infrastructure by capturing, segregating and recycling post-industrial textile waste.
Led nationally by Rematters, the programme will be implemented in partnership with Reverse Resources, Closed Loop Fashion and the Circle Economy Foundation, and funded by the H&M Foundation. The programme will establish waste management systems within Turkish textile factories, increase traceability through digital tools, and connect manufacturers with domestic and international recyclers. Throughout the programme, brands, manufacturers, recyclers and public stakeholders in Turkey will be brought together via on-site waste management assessments, training programmes, matchmaking events and policy dialogues.
As one of the world’s leading apparel manufacturing hubs, Türkiye holds a strategic position for scaling textile-to-textile recycling thanks to its vertically integrated production structure, geographic proximity to the European Union, and increasing environmental regulatory pressures. Therefore, Circular Fashion Partnership: Türkiye aims to build on these strengths by developing more effective waste sorting systems, fibre-to-fibre recycling, and domestic recovery models.
